I'm following a thread on Facebook involving the socialized medicine situation in Mexico and the potential pandemic swine flu outbreak. Americans living in Mexico are reporting children (and others) showing up at Mexican hospitals with resp. symptoms and 104+ degree fevers and being sent home without being tested for the very illness everyone is panicking about.

Ugh...this swine flu has all of us NY'ers a *little* bit freaked out right now...
I'm sure they'll be a run on hand sanitizers at all the local drugstores!
Amazing, isn't it? I am dumbfounded by society. I'll try to keep this short...one day I "happened" to meet 20 something girl. Really, out of nowhere the conversation turned to public health care. I said, "My relatives live in Canada and theyhave public hc. My uncle (who was a hard-working Canadian and is wealthy) is very sick and needed surgery. He was unable to get hc. They monkeyed around. He got sicker. Still longer...etc., etc. This young woman was like, "Reeeeally?"
