a pRiNcEsS tUrNs 4 ! ~ NEW UPDATE BELOW ~

Four years ago at 8:47 a.m. November 13, 2004 our telephone rang and as a daughter, I was suddenly hearing the words I have dreaded to hear my entire life. It was my Mom and she told me the rescue squad was at their home, and my Dad wasn't breathing. I had just visited with him only hours earlier the previous evening. One minute he was laughing and with us on this earth, and without any warning, he was ushered into the arms of his Heavenly Father.

That very same mid autumn morning four years ago, unbeknownst to me at the time, our daughter had just been born in a Province called Hubei in central China. 3 days later as we were preparing for my Dad's funeral she was found on a step under an overhang at a nursing home wrapped in a white blanket with blue animals printed on it.

We don't believe this was all by 'chance'. Rather, we know the intricate threads that brought our lives together almost one year later were woven by the hands of a loving and merciful God.

Elizabeth, our prayer is that God will always be the wind beneath YOUR wings.
Happy Birthday number 4 our precious sweetheart.

UPDATE:
Thank all of you so much for your kind wishes for our E'beth. She had a wonderful day enjoying simple little things like a new hair style and painted fingernails with glitter on them :)

We allowed her to choose a restaurant for dinner and of course she chose a Chinese one! They even put a candle in a piece of 3 milk cake :) and sang Happy Birthday to her in Mandarin!

.. after dinner the princess was escorted by her Daddy and brother to a play while Mommy dashed home with the balloons and cake for a "surprise" party. She opened her one special gift which was a cradle for her "Papa" (aka Panda). I wish I had the opening on tape. She squealed as if we had given her a bar of gold. Our precious sweetheart was SO appreciative of her present.

We are blessed.

(Welcome to those visitors from "Kelly's Korner"!)

I always enjoy reading your blog (can't remember now how I first got here) but today I had to post. My daughter also turned 4 on the 13th and similarly the Lord turn our "sorrow into Joy" when our agency called to say we had a daughter.

Blessings to you and your family.

OK, I can't remember but I think I said something like "I can't remember how I got here...." on my comment, I mean, you are bookmarked, I just couldn't remember why I bookmarked you, now it has been confirmed that I'm just one huge sleep deprived dork. Between Lori, Linn and the fact that you follow my blog, shouldn't be a huge stretch how I found your blog right?? Allrighty then, off to snag a few zz's before one of the 3 wake!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth is right!

Just caught up to you through Barbie's blog. I remember you from MAW. So happy to have found you and to see your two angels!

I'm sorry for your loss. Losing my parents was the hardest thing I've ever endured.

I have a little one from Hubei, too. She was born on March 1, 2005. When did you travel?

I found your blog via skipping around, and I had to check it out. I love your writing.

How amazing! My father passed away, and two years (to the day) later our daughter was being placed in my arms. She is turning 4 this month!

Sorry... one more comment. Our Libby's birthday is on the same day as her big brother James, who died 12 days after she came home. I am sure that these special days are a special tender mercy from a loving Father in Heaven, to remind us all of how connected we are...

Beautiful girl!!! We too know what a birthday and also a sorrow is like on the same day, our Hosanna turned 5 on the day our 3 year old twin son died of cancer. I really am blessed now that we have the days together, I would not want to celebrate Joel's life on a day all to itself, how and what does a family do?? Now we celebrate Hosanna's BD and Joel's life together.
