Post cards from China. Love, John

We were on a bus and we were going to the terrace rice fields. It was a long way up and it seemed like we were there but we were only half way. It took about 40 minutes to walk up all those stone steps. I'm guessing about a thousand steps. And on the way we brought a hat that unzips into a sun visor, and a bottle of water or two I think, and an umbrella because it was hot. At the top we saw the terrace rice fields and saw some young women dressed in old fashioned Chinese Costumes. They were about nine to twenty years old. We also saw men carrying people up the steep steps in bamboo seats. It was hard walking up the steps by yourself but I can't imagine carrying someone up the steps. The good thing was there were two men to share the work.

Love, John
