This post is for the BIRDS!

Cormorant Fishing! What is it? Scroll down for the full version, but basically the fisherman uses these large birds that dive into the river for fish and they tie a string at the base of the birds throat so that the birds can't swallow their catch :( The fisherman then "encourages" the bird to spit out the fish into his bucket.

These birds were amazing. We understood it takes over 3 years to train one and it was as if each one had their own personality. We once again hopped a boat that took us out at night on the Li River to watch this amazing centuries old tradition of fishing. It was fascinating. Guess there isn't a PETA org. in China!

Oh my gosh, I saw a story about this on Discovery Channel! That's crazy! And yeah, PETA would have a fit. Too funny!
